HK Fourteen went into my tracker after his Windsor sixth on June 1st where he raced on the ‘dead’ inside rail. Tony Carroll’s six-year-old acquitted himself well in a competitive Class 4 handicap at York next time, finishing a 50-1 eighth of 21, before a respectable 14-1 fourth at Wolverhampton. The son of Starspangledbanner hated the soft ground when last of six at Windsor last time in another Class 4 contest and looked very interesting now returned to Bath – he’s unbeaten in two runs here, scoring by a combined margin of five lengths – and dropping back down to Class 5 level for the first time since his Newbury win in August of last year. The unseasonably quick ground will suit.
