Andrew Mount’s Daily Racing Preview – Ffos Las Racing Analysis for Wednesday 14 October

Five tracks go racing in Britain and Ireland on Wednesday, with a pair of Grade 3 chases at Punchestown and a Listed novices’ chase at Ffos Las among the jumps highlights, while Nottingham and Kempton stage the flat action.

Andrew Mount focuses on the action in west Wales and has a brace of win selections at Ffos Las over jumps.

1.45 Ffos Las – My Own Lovely Lee (1pt win – 7/1 generally)

My Own Lovely Lee showed promise over hurdles, and the son of El Salvador could his career taking off now that he runs over fences for the first time. His sire’s progeny have a poor strike-rate in bumpers (three winners from 44 runners, 6.65%) and are not much better over hurdles (17 from 192, 8.85%) but the chasers are 24 from 108 (22.2%).

The Philip Hobbs and Johnson White-trained six-year-old was added to my tracker after his hard-pulling fifth in a 2m4f maiden hurdle at Leicester last December and though well held the next twice he signed off last term with a respectable staying-on fourth over the extended 3m2f trip in handicap hurdle company at Newton Abbot in April.

His yard does well in lower-grade handicaps at Ffos Las (Flat and jumps), scoring with 14 of the 72 qualifiers in Class 4 or lower company for a profit of £11.58 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£30.74 at Betfair SP after 2% commission, expected wins = 10.29, A/E = 1.36).

2.55 Ffos Las – Guard Your Dreams (2pt win – 7/2 generally)

It’s good to see veterans’ handicap chases return and regular readers or viewers of GG’s Weekend Watch will know that I favour ten-year-olds – the youngest age group eligible to take part – in these races. We have five to choose from in this nine-runner 3m contest with Guard Your Dreams the clear pick.

The Twiston-Davies yard has an eight from 25 record with ten-year-olds in veterans’ handicap chase company for a profit of £14.66 to a £1 level stake at SP (+£19.22 at Betfair SP after commission), including six from ten in the October-November period. The topweight runs especially well when fresh and remains unexposed at this trip.
