It is Arc day at Paris Longchamp, with British and Irish racing fans able to enjoy Europe’s biggest flat race a little after 3pm. 16 horses do battle across the Parisian turf, with an undercard full of top level prizes to enjoy.
Andrew Mount has analysis of the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye from the French card, as well as one race from the Curragh to round out the week.
1.47 Longchamp – Argentine Tango
It was a brilliant day for British trainers had Longchamp yesterday and Tim Easterby might be able to keep the ball rolling with Argentine Tango in the Prix de l’Abbaye. The three-year-old filly is well drawn in stall 3 of 15 and simply backing stall 1, 2 and 3 each-way in this race in recent years has been a solid punting angle…

…she acquitted herself well in the first-time blinkers when a 66-1 sixth of 17 to Comanche Brave in the Group 1 Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh last time and her yard remains in great form.
2.30 Curragh – King Cuan
The Paddy Twomey-trained King Cuan often runs well at this time of year and his first early autumn (September/October) start last season resulted in a neck second to Art Power in the Group 3 Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh where he was never quite able to reel in the all-the-way winner after a slow start. His full record in the September/October period, below Group 1 level, reads 1112 (3-4) and he looks very interesting now back at 7f for the first time since his juvenile win over this trip at Naas. Tee 5f trip was too short when he kept om into fourth place behind Mission Central in a hot Listed contest back at Naas in April on his latest outing where he was also drawn on the opposite side of the track to where the action unfolded.
