There are 20 horses entered for Sunday’s QIPCO 1000 Guineas, which takes place at Newmarket and the fillies’ Classic is set to be a hugely competitive affair with the latest 1000 Guineas Odds wide open.
Aidan O’Brien has saddled the winner of this race on seven separate occasions and he could be triply represented in the 2024 renewal and the spearhead is likely to be Ylang Ylang, who is currently the 4/1 second favourite in the betting. A fine winner of the Fillies’ Mile at the end of last season, Ylang Ylang will return to Flat HQ to try and claim more success and she is the prominent figure in the betting for the Ballydoyle team.
Currently heading the betting, at the time of writing, is Fallen Angel for Karl Burke and that filly is a 7/2 favourite with the bookmakers. Last seen storming to victory in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh in September she will be looking to build on a fine juvenile campaign and is the prominent figure for the British charge.
Charlie Appleby’s Dance Sequence has already had a run this season and she was second in the Nell Gwyn Stakes behind Pretty Crystal and that pair are both entered for Sunday’s contest. The former is sure to benefit from the experience and is well fancied to reverse the form and is a 5/1 chance, while Pretty Crystal is as big as 12/1 for Richard Fahey.
A fascinating French-trained raider comes in the shape of Ramatuelle for Christopher Head and that European raider is around the 10/1 mark, while the likes of See The Fire and another O’Brien-trained runner in the shape of Content are another duo nearing single figures in the betting for what looks a devilishly difficult betting heat for punters on the final day of the Guineas Festival.
