Crisis can be an overused term, but when Manchester United and Liverpool meet at Old Trafford on Monday Night (8:00pm), crisis sounds about right, with Erik Ten Hag’s side losing both matches, including a chastening loss at Brentford and Jurgen Klopp’s title challengers already finding themselves four points adrift of Man City. Check out a brief preview of the match below and a superb enhanced price for new customers at 888sport, where you can get 33/1 Man Utd To Win OR 7/1 Liverpool To Win.
Manchester United’s turmoil seems to continue on and on, with the Glazer issues, Ronaldo’s want to leave the club and Eirk Ten Hag struggling for new signings. Pre-season wasn’t too bad, but when the season got under way properly, the Red Devils looked like individuals, rather than a team, as they lost 2-1 to Brighton. many thought that was just a blip, but last week’s 4-0 defeat at Brentford, highlights the fundamental issues throughout the team. Casemiro’s supposed signing will help, but there is a lot to do, going forward.

Liverpool signed Darwin Nunez as a replacement for the Bayern bounce, Sadio Mane and in general Jurgen Klopp’s side were expected to get off to a fast start, especially after beating Man City in the Community Shield, but a 2-2 draw with Fulham, was followed by a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, as the Reds have played catch-up in both games, albeit with a Nunez red card thrown in for good measure.
So, what of this big Lancashire derby on Monday Night? Both sides love to put one over the other, as was seen in pre-season, when United beat Liverpool 4-0 in Bangkok. However with plenty of squad rotation, not much can be read into that result, although Red Devil fans enjoyed themselves on social media.
Liverpool have actually won the last three competitive meetings between the sides and won 5-0 at Old Trafford, before a 4-0 win at Anfield last season, with Mohamed Salah scoring five times in those matches. Erik Ten Hag has to change the tactical set-up here or face another struggle, especailly as Jurgen Klopp likes to press high. If he keeps the same style of play, I genuinely would worry for United, however there is the simple fact that it’s highly unlikely that United will play as badly as they did against Brentford here. Liverpool are not completely free of concerns either, with three goals conceded in the two games so far and criticism of both Virgil Van Dijk and the midfield in general.
Whatever happens on Monday, its going to be a cracking contest, between two wounded old rivals and I for one expect plenty of fireworks and a potential red card or two. Betting on the match? Then why not take up this superb 888sport offer and claim EITHER 33/1 Man Utd OR 7/1 Liverpool To Win
My Verdict
As much as a Manchester United improvement is expected, you can argue the same for Liverpool too. United’s issues are all over the park and I just don’t see them being addressed inside a week. So i’m going for a Liverpool win, Salah to score and an over 2.5 Total Goals selection too, for those looking at multiples, alongside this price boost offer..
