5 Dark Horses LIVE on Channel 4 Racing this Saturday!

If you’ve checked out our Big Saturday C4 Racing Preview, you’ll know there is some serious racing on this Saturday from Newmarket and Ascot. We’ve pinpointed these FIVE DARK horses, who we think could outrun their odds in some of the day’s big races – check it out!!

ONLINE ALEXANDER – 2.00pm – Ascot

4th when better fancied in this race last year where rain wouldn’t have helped her cause, this filly will really appreciate the sun she’s getting on her back this week and dropping back 5f with conditions to suit for her in-form yard, she is capable of bouncing back to form at double figure odds.

MISTER UNIVERSE – 3.45 – Ascot

One of three 3yos in this race and Mark Johnston’s inmate can build on a fair comeback after a break here last time out. He has some very good form in the book and didn’t look out of place in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot earlier in the season. At around 16/1, he could get into the places.

PUZZLED LOOK – 1.45 – Newmarket

She won’t be an outsider, but Ralph Beckett’s daughter of Sakhee’s Secret showed plenty of zip when landing a 7f maiden at Chepstow last month. Beckett is a master at improving fillies and the step back in trip shouldn’t be problem, it may even help her if this turns into a battle. A completely unexposed juvenile.

EAST INDIES

This son of Derby winner Authorized learned plenty from his Sandown debut to score at the second attempt in no uncertain terms over the 7f distance at Kempton late last month. A 2yo representing top connections and holding a Racing Post Trophy entry, a good win here would see him tackling Group 1 company next. Is he up to that level? Who knows, but he’s a dark one alright.

MAIMARA

Mikael Delzangles has Frankie booked to ride his daughter of stable star Makfi, who has been in pretty good form of late and the key to this raid, what makes her a dark horse, is the return to a fast surface. Because three runs back when she won a listed race on good ground, she posted her best speed figure of the season so far. Sure, she’s run well on soft since, but is a fast surface what she really needs? She’s a dark French raider for sure, and double figure odds for those willing to give her a shot.
