Not seen in the same vein as his 2018 form, with patchy exploits so far this year. He did however, finish third over C&D last month, 3 lengths behind race rival, Hyperfocus. Comes into this race 10lbs better off than that last meeting and he did finish second in this race on heavy going, back in 2018, so could muster a return to previous top form. Each-way backing offers plenty of encouragement.

3:10pm Fakenham (4 Places) BARTHOLOMEW J – 7/1
Has looked very strong in two starts over hurdles so far this year, winning as a 10/1 shot at Southwell (1m 7f, good), beating It Can Be Done by half a length, before finishing second, also at Southwell (2m 4f, good), some 2 lengths adrift. Form offers plenty of encouragement, although the elevation of two classes for today, may prove a little too much. Room for improvement, but places look the best outcome.

5:05pm Redcar (4 Places) ROYAL SHAHEEN – 16/1
Showed improvement, when cheek pieces replaced the regular visor at Ripon (1m 1f, soft) whe missing out by a head to Jupiter Road in August. Failed to replicate that run at Hamilton (1m 1f, good to soft) last month, finishing 7 lengths behind, with a faster pace that day arguably contributing to the result. Reasonably treated and can put that last run behind him, with places once again the way to go.
