The Kevin Ryan trained runner has not been able to build upon that victory, placing twice in five subsequent starts, including a third last time out at Ascot, in the Shergar Cup Dash.
In terms of the market leaders, Blackrod goes in as clear favourite with bookmakers, as Michael Dods’s charge looks to make it a hattrick, having secured victories in Class 2 contests at Newmarket and most recently York, when beating Digital by a neck.
Main Threats
Behind the favourite, Royal Scimitar will be looking to add to the single career win so far, as Charlie Cox’s colt looks to build on a second last time out, behind Popmaster in the Fever-Tree at Ascot, while Bergerac will be another looking to continue good form, having won twice and placed in three of the last five races, including the latest, when a half length winner at York.
Further down the field, the likes of Bickerstaffe, Boardman and Strike Red could all feature and as always, there could be a surprise from further down the list, with Mid Winster looking to continue a run that has seen them bag two victories in their last three starts.
