BRANDON CASTLE (2:40pm Ascot)

Twelve wins in fifty-eight starts for this 9-yo, with the last of those victories coming at Market Rasen (2m, good) back in August 2020, beating Escapability by 5 lengths to seal a double.

Neil King’s runner has found it a little tougher since stepping up in class, with the last run, a fourth of five in a Class 2 contest at Plumpton in the Sussex Champion Hurdle back in April, but he was only 4.5 lengths adrift of Diego Du Charmil that day. Return to action see’s him looking to win off this high mark and with others likely looking for fitness too, he can be in the mix for the victory.

MANCE RAYDER (3:05pm Catterick)

A usually consistent runner for Henry Hogarth, who followed on from a couple of second placed finishes to pick up the latest of five career wins at Kelso (3m 3f, good) back in May, when 5.5 lengths clear of Racing Pulse.

He continued to show decent form, in the latter part of the season, with a third at Aintree (3m good), keeping on well, but failing to make a dent in odds on winner, Empire De Maulde’s lead, finishing 8.5 lengths adrift. He was unfortunate in his latest, when looking useful for places, before being bumped and unseating his rider at Carlisle last month and certainly can make up for that here. Comes in off a easing mark and has plenty to offer in this contest.

ALOOQAAL (4:00pm Dundalk)

Improving runner for Michael Halford, who debuted with a seventh of thirteen at Gowran Park (1m, soft to heavy) thirty days ago, when unable to stamp any authority on the field.

However, he looked much more comfortable on the all-weather, when a 20/1 fourth over C&D thirteen days ago, finishing just 1.25 lengths adrift of the winner. More to come with the experience under his belt if he continues to be acclimatise to the surface, he can fire in a victory in this contest.

BENAVENTE (5:00pm Dundalk)

Richard O’Brien’s runner has come on leaps and bounds since his debut seventh at Naas (6f, Good to firm) back in June of last year.He retuned to action in the January of this year, placing third over C&D, before taking a maiden win in February, when beating odds on favourite. Devils Outlaw by 0.75 lengths.

He struggled when taking on listed company in the Patton Stakes, here over a mile, back in March, but returns for this lesser contest after a break and despite a little to prove, is quite unexposed at this level. More to come and a significant improvement expected, with a return to winning ways on the cards.
