Race 1 (12:30pm) CRYPTO
Winner on debut, back in March of 2019, but failed to replicate that, despite plenty of consistent runs over hurdles. It wasn’t until his latest and second chase attempt at Carlisle (2m 4f, heavy) that he added to his tally, when finishing 4 lengths clear of Uptown Harry back in March. Still has plenty to offer and should be improved on this seasonal bow. Charlie Deutsch continues onboard.
Race 2 (1:00pm) THE GLANCING QUEEN
Four wins in twelve for this Alan King trained runner, including a victory here over C&D back in January on heavy ground, when dominating with an 11 length win. She followed that with a creditable second at Exeter in a listed – Novices Hurdle (2m, heavy), before finding it a tougher test at the Festival, when fifth of fifteen in the Dawn Run. That hurdle experience should transfer well to this chasing debut in what looks to be a relatively weak contest, with a win potentially on the cards.
Race 3 (1:30pm) SNOW LEOPARDESS
Five wins in fifteen, with the last of those, coming a year ago at Haydock (3m 1f, soft) in a Class 2 chase contest, beating Commodore by half a length. She followed that with a second in the Grade 3 Rowland Meyrick Chase at Wetherby (3m, soft), before strong runs at the Festival and at Aintree. The fourth in the National Hunt Cup back in March, suggests more to come and she looks very capable of featuring at the business end of proceedings.
Race 4 (2:00pm) PAINLESS POTTER
Nine race maiden, who showed promise on the Flat, including several third placed finishes and a fifth of fifteen in the Group 2 – Coventry Stakes in June of 2020. His Dam is out of a useful hurdler and on his debut over flights, he placed third of four at Kempton three weeks ago, when 8.5 lengths adrift. Looks to have plenty of promise and will be improved for that experience, with the flat speed expected to be a major plus here. Tom Cannon takes over duties onboard.
Race 5 (2:30pm) WHENTHEPENNYDROPS
Had just the one start for Kayley Woollacott back in February, when fifth of eight at Ascot in a bumper contest and that was seemingly enough for this mare to be switched to Dan Skelton’s yard. Improvement is expected on hurdles debut and with a top, in form yard behind them, can land a maiden wn here, with places at very least.,
Race 6 (3:00pm) GOOBINATOR
Had initially struggled in hurdle contests, but bounced back to form on the flat, winning at Haydock and York (both 2m), before an excellent fourth in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket (2m 2f, good) last month. The McCain yard is in great form at the moment and this return to timber, marks an interesting change for this talented runner. Big player, with Brian Hughes onboard.
