Won back in January of last year at Cork, before seeing form drop off the proverbial cliff and being pulled-up. However, he returned to form and winning ways in latest at Naas (2m 4f, soft), when beating Sovereign Gold by 4.5 lengths. Held off a couple of today’s rivals in that contest and although Dinny Lacey looks the one to beat, this Mark Walsh ride should go close.
3:15pm Lingfield (4 Places) CLEGANE – 5/1
Eight race maiden, whose best performance came at Nottingham some fifteen months ago, when third over 6f (soft). Has shown signs of improvement after a poor run, with a fifth in latest at Chelmsford in January, when 2.5 lengths behind Luna Wish. Shorter trip won’t be a problem and a 2lbs drop will also help. Plenty of things to like about her chances here and should be in the hunt, come the judge.
6:00pm Dundalk (4 Places) JERED MADDOX – 7/1
One win in twenty-four runs and form of late has been a little hit and miss, with a couple of seconds interspersed with finishes further back down the field, a case in point being his recent two outings, placing sixth at the beginning of last month, before stepping up to a second a fortnight ago (both 6f, a/w). Wide draw is a problem, but if he find some consistency, he could feature.
