11:45am Lingfield (4 Places) Bayston Hill – 11/1
Winner at Navan (3m, heavy, back in February, when 4 lengths clear of Wishmore, before finding it a lot tougher in the listed Midlands National at Uttoxeter (4m 2f, heavy) in testing conditions. He finished sixth, but some 36 lengths adrift of the winner. Return to hurdles will be appreciated and comes in off a decent mark too. DIfficult to expect a victory, but capable of places, if retained fitness over the break.
12:45pm Lingfield (4 Places) PASSING NOD – 12/1
Two victories and a second in twelve starts under David O’Meara, but struggled on debut for Lee Carter’s yard at Lingfield a month ago, finishing tenth and five lengths adrift, having weakened in the final furlong. Rhys Clutterbuck claims 7lbs this afternoon, although a return to headgear is a concern, having not impressed when wearing aides so far. Places look the most likely, if he can get back to more regular form.
2:25pm Hexham (4 Places) ESPOIR MORIVIERE – 17/2
Winner at Wetherby (3m, soft) back in March, when beating The Very Thing by 4.25 lengths. Returned for seasonal debut at Ayr (3m, soft) finishing second in a solid performance, but couldn’t follow that up, when fifth at Newcastle (2m 7f, good), weakening five from home, although ground was probably not ideal. Better conditions offer a bigger chance here.
