4:05pm Goodwood (5 Places) ESCAPE THE CITY – 12/1.
Has tended to race between 1m 1f- 1m 4f, but finished third at Sandown (1m, good to soft) last month in a Class 3 contest. Subsequent attempt at the mile trip, saw them struggle in Class 2 company at Ascot (1m, good), finishing eighth and 7.5 lengths adrift of the winner. Returns to 1m 1f trip this afternoon and drops down to Class 4 level here, while George Rooke continues to claim 5lbs. Tough ask to win, but worthy of each-way backing.
4:30pm Listowel (5 Places) BLAZER – 14/1
Much improved, since a drop in form, grabbing a fourth at Galway (2m 6f, soft) in July, before improving to a third at [Killarney] (2m 4f, yielding) last month, finishing 3.5 lengths adrift of Mortal. He did finish twelve lengths behind race rival Cabaret Queen in the Galway Plate prior to those runs, but comes in 3lbs better off today. Room for improvement and each-way claims are not out of reach.
4:55pm Redcar (5 Places) WIFF WAFF – 11/1
Won twice last month, at Leicester (6f, good to firm) and then Bath (5f, soft), but was unable to make it a hat-trick, when fifth at Chepstow (5f, good), when 1.25 length off the winner, despite running on well. That looked a sharper trip for Adrian Wintle’s charge, so a 6f trip is likely to suit. Solid claims, assuming he can return to form.
