Has struggled at higher levels so far, with the latest of eleventh in the Coral Cup at the Festival, not helped by being hampered at the last, although was clearly beaten on merit too. Nicky Henderson has won three of the last seven editions of this contest and this looks a more suitable contest, but that question mark does remain.
2:20pm Aintree
THIRD TIME LUCKI is up next, having won five wins in ten starts, with the last of those at Kempton (2m, good to soft) in a Class 2 Novices’ Hurdle, when 9 lengths clear of Flic Ou Voyou in December. Placed a creditable sixth in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham (2m, good to soft) last time out, when 3.25 lengths adrift of winner Belfast Banter, but was giving away a stone in weight that day and should be able to make amends in this. Plenty of optimism based on ratings.
4:05pm Aintree
Next up is LIVELOVELAUGH, who has four wins in twenty-nine starts, but not since January 2018 at Cork. Willie Mullins’s charge has been in strong form recently, placing in the last three races, including last time out at Leopardstown (2m 5f, good to yielding), when just a neck behind Mitchouka. Performed well in the 2019 National and looks to be on an upward trend in form. Capable of bagging a first win over three years here.
5:15pm Aintree
The final selection is COPPERLESS, who has won the last two races, taking the spoils at Market Rasen (2m, good) back in October and then returning from a break to win once again at Taunton (2m, good), when a length clear of Chez Hans. Open to further improvement and jockey, Lewis Stones claims the full 7lbs to give Ollie Murphy’s runner a strong chance here.
