Had gone close to adding to the single victory, with seconds at Lingfield (7f, a/w) when 1.75 lengths behind Gigi’s Beach and also here at Chelmsford (7f, a/w) in May, when a nose behind Vivency. After a disappointing sixth last time out, he stepped up to take the victory at Lingfield (7f, a/w), last time out, when half a length clear of Drish Hero, twenty-four days ago. Comes in just 1lb higher and a double is very much on the horizon here, barring any errors.
Today’s Racecards
7:20pm – VULCAN
Has looked back to his best, since switching to Ralph Beckett in April. His return from a 400 day break was unsurprisingly disappointing, but having gained some fitness, looked more like his old self, when placing second at Haydock (1m 2f, good) back in May, when 3.5 lengths adrift of Ziggy. He then went one better to record a third career win at Newcastle (1m 2f, a/w), when 2.5 lengths clear of Spirit Dancer, seventeen days ago. Strong favourite, with Boss Power leading the challengers.
8:20pm – NAPPER TANDY
Last of two career wins, came back in April of last year at Newcastle (1m 4f, a/w). Form since has been okay, with a third last time out at Lingfield (1m 4f, a/w) seeing them just 0.75 lengths adrift of Pallas Dancer. Returns from a three month break, having been gelded and can take a win here, assuming he has been kept fit.
