1: DROP THE ANCHOR (2:50pm Cheltenham) (5 votes)

Four wins in twenty-one, with the last of those, coming back in February of last year, when taking the spoils in the Grade B – Ladbrokes Hurdle at Leopardstown (soft to heavy). Form since, has been okay, without being spectacular, including t fifth last time out, again at Leopardstown, but he is 3lbs lower than when entering this contest last year, placing seventh. Should have a bit more here, with softer conditions adding to the appeal.

2: AHOY SENOR (3:30pm Cheltenham) (4 votes)

Four wins in seven starts for this Lucinda Russell runner, with recent wins in the Grade 2 – John Francome Chase at Newbury (2m 7f, good to soft) and the Grade 2 – Towton Novices Chase at Wetherby (3m, good), when 5.5 lengths clear of Noble Yeats. He finished 7.5 lengths adrift of Bravemansgame in the Kauto Star Chase on Boxing Day and certainly has more to come in this sphere, with genuine chances, if able to find that little bit extra.

3: SHISHKIN (3:30pm Cheltenham) (4 votes)

Nicky Henderson’s star performer takes on Energumene once more, having pulled off a superb victory in the Grade 1 – Clarence House Chase at Ascot (2m, soft) back in January, to win by a length. Having already won the Supreme Novices and the Arkle, this eleven time winner, has a great opportunity to bag a hat-trick of festival wins here, with the aforementioned Energumene and Chacun Pour Soi keeping him honest.

4: BUDDY RICH (4:50pm Cheltenham) (3 votes)

In solid form of late, having finally bagged a third career win at Navan (2m 1f, good) in a Beginners Chase, after four successive second placed finishes. Gordon Elliott’s charge, placed a creditable fourth of ten, last time out at Fairyhouse (2m good) and comes into this contest, as one of the leading challengers to favourite, Andy Dufresne. Genuine chances in what looks an open contest.

5: STAGE STAR (1:30pm Cheltenham) (1 votes)

This Paul Nicholls runner has four wins in six starts and comes into this contest, looking for a four-timer having won the Grade 1 – Challow Hurdle at Newbury (2m 4f, soft). Enjoys soft ground and has not got anywhere near his maximum as yet. Tough ask to beat Sir Gerhard here, but definitely each-way attraction for punters.
