Race 1 (1.30pm) ASPIRE TOWER
Won a second successive hurdle race at Leopardstown on December in a Grade 2 race, with subsequent placed runners in Wolf Prince and Wave By The Sea going on to win in Grade 1 races since. Looked to have every chance in last run in a Grade 1 outing over course and distance, before falling at the last. Will need to improve among high class opponents, but is expected to be in the hunt as they head for home.
Race 2 (2:10pm) CIEL DE NEIGE
Lightly raced since finishing third on debut in the Fred Winter last Festival. Returned to action in December, with a fourth on a needed run, but has since finished second at Newbury in the Grade 3 Betfair Hurdle last month. Rises 4lbs today, but that should not be an issue for a runner with plenty of scope for improvement.
Race 3 (2:50pm FURY ROAD
Thoroughly impressive when winning first three hurdle runs, including a Grade 2 Novices’ at Limerick in December. Was favourite when stepping up to Grade 1 level at Leopardstown last month, but failed to find pace in the closing stages, when beaten by several of todays race rivals. Has the ability to turn that result on its head, with improving ground a minor concern.
Race 4 (3:30pm) DELTA WORK
Moved on from hurdles to fences and has looked strong since finishing third in the RSA Chase last year. Picked up successive wins at Leopardstown, with the latest at the beginning of February, when winning the Irish Gold Cup. Strong stayer at 3m and looks to be improving further. Every chance of taking the spoils this afternoon.
Race 5 (4:10pm) SHANTOU FLYER
Has been the bridesmaid on last two visits to the Festival, finishing second in the Ultima back in 2018, before finishing second once again in this Foxhunter’s Chase last year. Returned to action with wins in a point race at Larkhill and a 23 length win at Fakenham most recently. Looked in good condition on both of those runs and no reason to not see another big Festival run once again.
Race 6 (4:50pm) ECLAIR DE BEAUFEU
Has always looked comfortable in big fields over hurdles and was unlucky to unseat his rider at the last in the County Hurdle here last year. Won over 2m, (soft to heavy) at Wexford in October and won last race, when beating Paloma Blue at Leopardstown on yielding to soft ground. Solid claims, although won’t want ground any drier.
