Race 2 (1:45pm) YALA ENKI
Now 11-yo and an experienced campaigner, who shows great consistency. He picked up his last victory back in January, when winning the Class 2 – Portman Cup at Taunton (3m 4f, soft), when 5 lengths clear of If The Cap Fits. That was followed with a fourth in the Cotswold Chase a month later, before unseating his rider in the Grand National. Returns from a lengthy rest, which usually bodes well and he can get off to a flying start here.
Race 3 (2:20pm) PUT THE KETTLE ON
Nine wins in seventeen starts for this Henry De Bromhead runner, including the victory over race rival Nube Negra in the Champion Chase (1m 7f, good to soft) at the Festival back in March, when half a lengths separated them. She ended the season with an okay performance in the Celebration Chase, but returns with renewed vigor, after a break and has already proven that she runs well fresh. Has a 7lbs advantage over her rival and that could make the difference this time around.
Race 4 (2:55pm) NO ORDINARY JOE
Three wins in four starts for this talented Nicky Henderson runner, with a double sealed last time out at Worcester (2m 4f, good ot soft) back in May in a three runner contest. He does lack big race experience, so that could factor in this contest, but he surely has more to come and goes in as the narrow favourite for this race too. Nico De Boinville as ever, is onboard once again.
Race 5 (3:30pm) I LIKE TO MOVE IT
Four wins in six starts and comes into this contest, having won over C&D three weeks ago on good ground, when 3.25 lengths ahead of Tritonic.He is unbeaten over hurdles so far, but is still far from comfortable over timber but Nigel Twiston-Davies’ contender looks to leading candidate of this small field contest.
Race 6 (4:00pm) AUCUNRISQUE
Former pointer, who showed plenty of promise on debut and justified that in his second outing under rules, when taking the spoils at Stratford (2m good to soft) in a bumper contest, finishing 4.25 lengths clear of Walkinthewoods. Chris Gordon’s charge was then stepped up to Class 2 level here, three weeks ago and made a decent race of it, placing fourth of fifteen in another bumper. More to come and expected to feature.
