Mon 10 Jun 2024Joseph O’Brien’s Cowardofthecounty was a stunning two-and-a-half length winner on debut at the Curragh back in April, where he beat Whistlejacket in fine style. That Aidan O’Brien-trained speedball is entered for this event, but is a red-hot favourite for the Norfolk Stakes over five furlongs later in the week, but if Cowardofthecounty can improve on that debut win then he has to be a huge contender.
Charlie Appleby’s Al Qudra broke his maiden tag at the third time of asking when bounding to an eye-catching Lingfield Park maiden success. The step up to six furlongs appeared to bring out significant improvement for the Godolphin raider, who suffered two defeats over five furlongs prior to his first win.
Andesite stayed on well to win at York on debut last month and Karl Burke’s son of Pinatubo is one of the least experienced in the line-up for what is a race full of intrigue. Others that catch the eye include Treasure Isle and The Actor for what is always a race jam-packed with quality.
