Stradivarius
There is little to say about Stradivarius that hasn’t been said already. He has seventeen career wins, including the Group 3 – Sagaro Stakes at Ascot (1m 7f, good to firm) back in April and on his most recent run, took the spoils in the Group 2 – Lonsdale Cup at York (2m, good to firm), when pipping Spanish Mission by a head and 7 lengths clear of race rival The Grand Visir. He has not been quite at his imperious best this season, but leads the way once again and will be looking to follow up the 2019 win in this race previously. Clearly the one to beat, if at full tilt.

Trueshan
Alan King’s Trueshan offers the biggest threat from the six competitors, Stradivarius will face. This Hollie Doyle ride was in superb form, when taking the Group 1 – Goodwood Cup Stakes (2m, soft) in July, when 3.75 lengths clear of Away He Goes and 5 lengths clear of the rest. A lot hinges on the possible threat of rain prior, to the point where Alan King may withdraw his charge, but if we have the indicated deluge overnight, he will be in his element and become much shorter on the markets. Strong claims, IF the weather turns.

Rodrigo Diaz
Rodrigo Diaz has four wins and four places in eleven starts for David Simcock, with the recent second at Newbury (1m 5f, good) in the Group 3 – Geoffrey Freer Stakes offering encouragement here, having finished 3.5 lengths behind dds on favourite Hukum. This trip shouldn’t be an issue, having placed second over 2m, again at Newbury in his penultimate start, with the potential to surprise, worthy of some each-way attention on the markets, already.

POTENTIAL TO SURPRISE
NAYEF ROAD
Of the remaining runners, only **Nayef Road offers any real potential outside of the aforementioned trio, with Mark Johnston’s 5-yo showing consistency, if not many victories. His last win was at Newcastle (2m, a/w) over a year ago, in the Group 3 – Sagaro Stakes. Has a record of 35565 this year and clearly needs to find a bit more, but he has the potential to enter the equation for places in this contest.

THE OUTSIDER
ALERTA ROJA
Three runners are priced at 20/1 or more and of those, Alerta Roja may be capable of pushing themselves into contention. Sir Mark Prescott’s filly has picked up a hattrick of victories, after an opening quartet of solid performance and took the spoils in a Class 4 contest at Ascot (1m 7f, good to soft) last time out. Will need to produce significantly at this level, but if the previously mentioned rain does arrive, it could give her chances a boost, as she has shown great versatility on varying ground already. Certainly capable of battling for the places.
