Without a victory since July of last year at Beverley, as results since, have not quite been up to that previous standard. However at third of six at Carlisle (5f, good to firm) last month, alongside a fourth of nine here over C&D, twenty-five days ago, when half a length adrift of the winner, Silky Wilkie, three weeks ago. Drops a further 1lb for this contest and has strong claims, if continuing the improvement.

3:20pm – JAWWAAL
Winner of this race last year, when a length clear of Nomadic Empire. Has won three times over C&D in total, but has been off the boil since returning to action in May and finished last of seven here over C&D in his last contest, nineteen days ago, racing a little too freely and ending up 2.75 lengths adrift of the winner. A better performance is expected, if able to settle better and he goes in as narrow favourite for this contest.
3:30pm – RUM COCKTAIL
Two wins in five starts, including the latest run at Goodwood (5f, good to firm), when half a length clear of Chief White Face a fortnight ago, challenging late and leading in the final 110yds. Looks well treated with a 2lbs rise and looks the leading candidate, with Sandbeck and Havagomecca likely to keep her honest.
