Race 1 (1:00pm) BELLATRIXSA
This Venetia Williams runner comes in looking for a treble, having won at Ludlow (2m 5f, good to soft) sixteen days ago and then following up with a victory at Hereford (3m 1f, soft) in a Mares Handicap a week later, storming to a 20 length margin. The significant drop back in distance offers a fresh challenge under penalty, but on current form, is difficult to ignore and thus opens our selections here.
Race 2 (1:35pm) DE YOUNG WARRIOR
After four places in five starts, this Jeremy Scott runner finally bagged a maiden victory at Exeter back in December, before adding another and maintaining his unbeaten chase start at Chepstow (2m 7f, soft), when beating Striking A Pose by 2.25 lengths, three weeks ago. He looks to have more to come still and can make it a hat-trick of victories in this contest
Race 3 (2:10pm) COLORADO DOC
Another consistent sort, this time under the stewardship of David Brace. The 11-yo last won some five races ago at Worcester (2m 7f, good to soft) back in October, but has since places second in three of the last four runs, including the latest at Wincanton (3m 2f, good to soft) last month, but unable to much about runaway winner El Paso Wood. Stamina over 3m, has been an issue, so the drop back to this 2m 2f trip looks ideal, with a strong performance expected.
Race 4 (2:45pm) BEN BULBEN
This Yeats gelding, out of Mystic Masie made a decent start to his career, when fourth of eight in a bumper here at Exeter (2m, heavy) on New Years Day, finishing 10 lengths adrift. Harry Fry’s runner makes hurdling debut in this contest and assuming he jumps well enough, there could be some success here, with places very much the expectation.
Race 5 (3:20pm) FATHER JOHN
WInner on debut back in the Summer 2019, but wasn’t seen for some twenty-two months, until an eighth of twelve last April. He picked up another victory at Worcester (2m 4f, good) last September, when 1.5 lengths ahead of Roque It, before dropping off in form once more, with the latest of a ninth at Ascot, back in December. This looks an easier contest and the addition of Nico De Boinville onboard should help bring about a better performance this time around.
Race 6 (3:50pm) SNUFF BOX
We complete the half-dozen with another Venetia Williams runner, who comes in looking for a treble, having followed up a victory at Bangor (3m heavy) in early January, with another at Lingfield (3m 4f, heavy), easing to a 9 length win, ahead of Vinnie Dev. Another strong performance is expected under a penalty, with Lucy Turner’s claim helping to negate that in this race.
