12:35pm Southwell (4 Places) GRANIA O’MALLEY – 16/1
Last victory came at Ffos Las back a year ago, but has not been able to repeat the feat since, with a second at Uttoxeter in October the best run since. In three runs since, she has been pulled-up or finished in excess of 25 lengths behind, so its hoped that this near four month break will be the refresh she needs to get back to previously good form. Worth each-way backing at this price.
3:40pm Southwell (4 Places) EXTREME FORCE – 9/1
Has really come into his own since switching to hurdles at the turn of the year, after poor runs over the flat. Was a 28/1 winner at Catterick in December, before placing third at Musselburgh on New Years Day, but bounced back with another victory at Catterick at the end of that month. Comes into handicap debut with little quarter given by the handicapper, but looks likely to improve here, considering recent runs.
5:55pm Leopardstown (4 Places) OUT ON FRIDAY – 9/1
Provided little to encourage in twelve runs, but Patrick Byrne’s persistence was almost rewarded at Tipperary (1m 1f) a fortnight ago, when going 5 lengths clear, heading into the final 3f, before being slowly ground down and failing by a neck to Rock On Seamie. Drop to a mile should help here, but up 5lbs from that last outing. Remains to be seen, if he can repeat the feat, but worthy of attention.
