NAP: Alpha Capture – 2.05 York (2/1)

ALPHA CAPTURE is going to take a bit of beating in this. Of those with substantial form he has the most compelling case. His short head second in a very valuable 2yo race last time could not be working out any better. He was second to Cold Case who won a similar event to this last weekend by 2 and a half lengths. Also the 4th that day was Galeron who won the Goffs Million very nicely a fortnight ago. So the form is all there plus he is in the right hands right connections William Haggas and Tom Marquand won this last year. He seems versatile ground wise and it all points to a big run.

21/1 Double

Epictetus – 2.25 Newmarket (5/2)

Epictetus looks the least exposed in this and can improve having had a nice break since his debut win in July. That race had some handy runners in it and he beat Flying Colours (4th) that day who is now rated 108. He has the potential to be very useful and if he’s progressed and grown in his break should be a real force in this.

John and Thady Gosden do well with their two-year-old next time out after debut and he should be bang on here. He faces good opposition in Silver Knott who disappointed last time – although didn’t like the soft ground. However, EPICTETUS has more potential and can go in here for our double.

Aesop’s Fables – 3.00 Newmarket (11/2)

This is a race with lot’s of nice two-year-old colts including Nostrum, Chaldean and Naval Power. However, They all have question marks surrounding their form. In particular I’m happy to take on Nostrum at the prices given he’s only had two runs which is a red flag in terms of Dewhurst trends.

I’m keen on the chances of Aesop’s Fables in this from Ballydoyle who love to target this race. He ran below par in ground he clearly hated last time, and I think you will see a much improved performance in this. He looks a huge price at 11/2 based on his penultimate start, where he drew away powerfully in a Group race in Ireland. He gets his ground on Saturday and can prove the best of these.

Aidan O’Brien had two entered before declaration stage, but has opted for this sole runner which could be a clue.

Outsider – Gibraltar (10/1)

Willie Mullins targets this race once again with three runners as he bids to win his 4th Cesarewitch in 5 years. He has an extremely strong contingent with Baby Zeus, Scaramanga and GIBRALTAR making the trip over the Irish Sea.

It’s the latter I’m keen on which looks to have been plotted perfectly with his last two wins sneaking him in at the bottom of the handicap. Racing off a featherweight here, bang in form, with a horse that will relish the stamina demands of this really looks like a shrewd bit of work from the master trainer and he can land it big for us in the big one!
