Two wins in the last three starts, with a victory at Wolverhampton twelve days ago, over 1m 1f, when half a length ahead of Art Expert. Seems to be responding well since Oliver Stammers has been onboard and with a rise of just 1lb for this contest, a repeat performance could well be on the cards.
Race 2 (2:25pm) MISS MESSENGER
Useful in two starts so far, placing as a 40/1 second on debut at Kempton (1m, a/w) at the beginning of last month, missing out by just a neck, before placing fourth of ten at Wolverhampton twelve days ago, when 4.5 lengths adrift of the winner. She has raced freely in those starts and she has an opportunity to improve on that last run here.
Race 3 (3:00pm) MABRE
Thirteen runs since a victory at Windsor last Summer, but recent form has suggested a return to winning ways, having missed out by a neck at Kempton (1m, a/w) to Covert Mission three weeks ago, before finishing third and 3.5 lengths adrift of Velma at Newcastle, five days later. Has had a little more time to recover for this contest and David Evans’ charge should be competitive once again.
Race 4 (3:35pm) DEMBE
Useful in his opening three runs, before taking a maiden win at Kempton (7f, a/w) at the beginning of last month, 1.75 lengths ahead of Bobby On The Beat. Brettg Johnson’s runner clearly enjoyed the taste of victory and subsequently followed with the spoils at Wolverhampton (7f, a/w) twenty-three days ago, by a 1.75 length margin once again. Rises 4lbs but a hat-trick is a strong possibility here.
Race 5 (4:10pm) SECOND WIND
Strong runs last year, with wins at Yarmouth and then a Class 4 at Salisbury (5f, good to soft), beating Bosh by three quarters of a length. A twelfth of fifteen in the Group 2 – Norfolk Stakes saw them very much out of their depth, although the 8.5 length margin to the winner, Perfect power, was at least respectable. Returns for handicap debut, after an eight month break and has plenty of chances in calmer waters.
Race 6 (4:45pm) LOVE POEMS
This mare picked up her maiden win at the seventh time of asking, with a 1.25 length victory at Chelmsford (1m 6f, a/w) back in October, before following up with a third of seven at the same venue and seemingly finding the 2m trip beyond her. She returns from a break, with a little to prove in terms of stamina, but certainly can feature, if the Winter work, bares fruit.
