Twice a winner for Mark Johnston, but has not been able to rediscover that form since switching to James Horton’s yard. The gelding did place second on his first appearance for his new home at Wolverhampton (1m 1f, a/w) in April, when half a length behind Daheer, but has failed to follow that up in subsequent runs, placing fifth of nine at Newcastle, over 1m 4f. it’s hoped that the drop back to 1m 2f this afternoon, aides his chances but needs to show more. Money has come in for this runner, but each-way claims beckon at best.

Started off in great from at the back end of last year, winning two of three starts overall, including the last of those at Lingfield (1m, a/w), when 2 lengths clear of Griffin Park in a Class 5 novices contest. Roger Varian’s charge returns with a first handicap start this afternoon and looks to have plenty more to come, with fitness the only concern in this contest. Very much in the mix, assuming she is ready to go.
3:22pm – VICTORY HOUSE
Dubawi colt, out of Yaazy, bought for 52,000gns as a 2-yo. He is a brother to 1m 2f – 1m 5f winner, Motazzen. Dam is a winner over 1m 3f and a half-sister to the very strong, Matterhorn. Appeals in terms of pedigree and some backing on the markets only encourages further investigation. Strong claims at making a victorious debut here.
