Race 1 (1:00pm) DYSART DIAMOND
A five time winner for Willie Mullins, including on his penultimate start, here at Punchestown (2m 2f, good to yielding) in the Listed – Grabel Mares Hurdle back in November, when half a length clear of Royal Kahala. She finished behind the same runner in latest, when a bad mistake at the last killed any momentum, finishing seventh of nine and some 17 lengths adrift. Has the ability to bounce back from that run here and is expected to be in the mix, as they head into the closing stages.
Race 2 (1:35pm) WALNUT BEACH
Despite being a thirteen race maiden, the recent form of this Patrick Flynn runner, suggests it will be a matter of time, before he takes a first victory, having placed three times in the last four starts, including the latest at Thurles (1m 7f, good) back in November, when missing out by a shorthead to Vino Ardanza, with the pair 11 lengths clear of the rest. Returns after a 90 day break, which could bring some minor sharpness issues, but overall, looks to have the best form in this field.
Race 3 (2:05pm) RAMILLIES
This is another of Willie Mullins’ runners, with this 7-yo picking up a maiden win at the second time of asking, at Leopardstown, in a bumper contest back in December 2020. Had some respectable runs in Class 1 contests since then, before placing third last time out at Naas (2m 3f, good to yielding), some three weeks ago, when 12 lengths adrift of stablemate, The Nice Guy on hurdling debut. Progressive sort, who can grab a victory, if he can cut out the minor jumping errors.
Race 4 (2:40pm) YOUNG DEV
Strong performer, with five wins and twelve places in his career so far and winning last time out too, here at Punchestown (2m 7f, heavy), when beating Boss Girl by three quarters of a length, just ten days ago. Looks well treated by the handicapper still and it would not be a surprise to see Denis Hogan’s charge rock up for another win here, especially with heavy conditions expected.
Race 5 (3:15pm) ANGELS DAWN
Perennial bridesmaid, with seven places in thirteen starts for this Sam Curling runner. A recent third in a Grade 2 – Novice Hurdle at Limerick (2m 7f, heavy), last December, clearly shows his capabilities in the mud and if similar conditions appear in this contest, then he is likely to be in the mix for the prize, especially with this significant drop in level.
Race 6 (3:50pm) FOX LE BEL
Descent performer for Elizabeth Doyle, who should arguably have more than the three place results in the sixteen career runs so far. He placed third at Cork (2m, soft), back in November, before a mistake at Clonmel arguably cost him any chances last month. However, a fifth of twenty, last time out at Gowran Park three weeks ago, shows a runner in good form and one that could thrive, now up in trip here.
