——————,

(1) (3:00pm Royal Ascot) BATTLEGROUND was 5/1, now 5/2

Finished fifth of eighteen on debut, in a maiden at Naas just ten days ago, over 6f and on good to soft ground. Lots of expectation for this first foal of Found and with a run under his belt, should improve, especially with the extended 7f trip.

(2) (3:35pm Royal Ascot) TECHNICIAN was 7/1, now 10/3

Winner of three group races last season, including the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury and most recently, the Group 1 Prix Royal Oak at Longchamp in October. Stayed on well that day, which offers hope over today’s 2m 4f distance. Most of his best form is on soft ground, so may need a little help from the weather to beat big favourite Stradivarius, but in good form and looks the most likely to threaten.

(3) (1:15pm Royal Ascot) GLOBAL STORM was 11/1 now 9/2

Comes into this very open race, looking for a hat-trick of wins after successive triumphs at Newmarket. Picked up his first career win in a Nursery there in November, before returning to action eleven days ago and grabbing the win by a short head. Goes up 5lbs today and is also without regular jockey, Cieran Fallon’s 3lb claim, so faces a tough task, but plenty of backing suggests he is still good enough to go close.

(4) (2:25pm Royal Ascot) MONARCH OF EGYPT was 16/1, now 9/2

Talented runner, who was unfortunate to come up against Siskin in two group races at Curragh. Including the Keeneland Stakes in August. Form has dipped since then, with a couple of disappointing runs last Autumn and a seventh (behind Siskin) in the Irish 2,000 Guineas most recently, although they struggled to get a clear run in that race. Needs a good performance this afternoon, but a very capable performer on his day, Solid forecast selection.

(5) (4:40pm Royal Ascot) DUBAI LOVE was 25/1, now 13/2

Returns to UK turf, after four runs on the dirt at Meydan, which garnered mixed success. Picked up the victory in the UAE 1000 Guineas (January), five lengths clear of odds on favourite Final Song, but then finished a 19 length, second in the UAE Oaks. Finished third on last run back in March. Is one from one on Turf, at Nottingham last October, but will need to show more here. Each-way claims looks most likely.
