2:25pm Royal Ascot (4 Places) FINAL SONG – 7/1
Won and placed in two visits to Ascot, including a third in the Queen Mary Stakes last year. Won at the beginning of the year in Meydan and picked up places both there and in Riyadh, before a very creditable fourth placed finish in the Qipco 1000 Guineas as a 100/1 shot. Drop down in both class and trip offers plenty of encouragement here has a genuine chance of picking up the victory this afternoon.
4:10pm Royal Ascot (5 Places) DUBAI MIRAGE – 20/1
A couple of strong performances last year, have put this Godolphin runner on the radar, with the third in the Convivial Stakes at York’s Ebor meeting, a particularly strong outing. Romped home as odds on favourite in a Class 5 at Kempton last Wednesday, so has to contend with a penalty. Wears cheek-pieces for the first time, which adds to concerns, but comes in at a solid price for the five places on offer.
4:40pm Royal Ascot (5 Places) SOFFIKA – 10/1
Winner over 6f at Pontefract last June in a Class 5 debut and didn’t look out of place when stepping up to Group 3 level, finishing second to West End Girl in the Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket (7f) a couple of months later, finishing strongly late on. Goes up to a mile this afternoon, which should suit and could cause a surprise, if improvement continues.
