1:20pm Thurles (4 Places) KEY COMMANDER – 8/1
Left his past chase form behind last time out at Thurles (3m, soft) last month, when taking the spoils by 8 lengths, over the extended trip in an impressive display. Comes into today’s contest 12lbs higher for that win, which doesn’t look insurmountable but the drop back in trip is a minor concern. Looks to have solid place claims at least here.
7:20pm Kempton (4 Places) AIR OF YORK – 7/1
Has had an excellent start to the year, having struggled towards the back end of 2020. He followed a C&D third, three weeks ago, with a win, also over C&D just eleven days ago, beating Jeanette May by 1.5 lengths in a strong run. A tougher test now returning to handicaps but looks capable of building upon what has been a good January so far for Grace Harris’s charge.

8:20pm Kempton (4 Places) ALCOCK AND BROWN – 17/2
Better known as a hurdler, winning four of twenty over flights, but he showed some minor promise in first flat run since 2016, when sixth at Lingfield, (2m, a/w) albeit 10 lengths adrift of the winner. Will be sharper for that run, three weeks ago and although he is unlikely to challenge for the victory, he can get in amongst the places this afternoon.
