Race 1 (12:30pm) COOL SPIRIT
Without a win in eleven, since taking the spoils at Musselburgh (5f, good) last April, but has found some form recently, picking up a second here (4f, a/w), seventeen days ago, before taking the spoils in his latest at Lingfield six days ago, when 4.25 lengths ahead of Maahi Ve. He kept on well that time round and even with a penalty, looks to have strong claims once again.
Race 2 (1:00pm) LOUIS TREIZE
Started off well, with a runner-up spot on debut back in the Summer of 2018 and followed thay with the only career win, that same month. Has struggled to enough to feature and has usually finished just outside the place positions. That has not changed in four starts for Rebecca Menzies, although a fourth here at Southwell (6f, a/w) last month, saw them just a length adrift of the winner. Potential here, if able to build upon that run, with the latest at Newcastle, arguably coming a little too soon.
Race 3 (1:35pm) NATIONAL CHARTER
Showed promise on debut, when fourth of ten at Lingfield (7f, a/w) in December, before placing last of ten in latest at Newcastle (1m, a.w), when badly hampered and weakening 2f from home. Makes another attempt at the mile trip here and this Willie Haggas charge is given the benefit of the doubt here.
Race 4 (2:10pm) BLACK KALANISI
Steadily improved runner, who picked up a couple of second placed finishes last year, including a Class 3 – Handicap Chase at Stratford (2m 3f, good) back in October, behind Kap Auteuil. He returned from a short break to take the spoils in the latest run, here at Southwell (2m, a/w) on the flat, beating Khileafy by a neck, in what was arguably his best performance and looks to be able to go close once more in this extended 2m 2f trip.
Race 5 (2:45pm) BOBBY ON THE BEAT
In peak form at the moment, having added to a win at Lingfield (6f. a/w) thirteen days ago, with a victory at Chelmsford (7f, a/w) five days later, when 1.5 lengths clear of Split Elevens. He missed out on a treble, when 1.75 lengths behind Dembe at Kempton, six days ago, but looks capable of bouncing back and taking another victory here, despite a 5lbs penalty.
Race 6 (3:20pm) GINATO
No win in six races, since taking a 1.5 length win at Catterick (5f, good to soft), ahead of Qaaraat, back in September. He has placed second in two starts since however, including in the latest run at Newcastle (6f, a/w), when missing out by a neck to Tell’em Nowt. Comes into this contest of the same mark and should feature in this final Placepot contest.
