SATURDAY
MAJOR DUNDEE – Scottish Grand National (3:35pm)
We head to the magnificent venue at Ayr racecourse for the Scottish Grand National, the traditional precursor to the big event at Aintree and with twenty-four runners taking on the 4m trip, it’s worth looking outside the main favourites for a winner.
Major Dundee has shown strong form so far this season, with a pair of victories at Fakenham (2m 5f, good) and Bangor (3m, soft), before returning from a three month break and just missing out on a hat-trick at Newbury (2m 7f, soft) four weeks ago, when Fuji Flight beat him by 1.25 lengths. Alan King’s yard is in good form of late and he looks suited to this extended trip and has enough about him to take his chance and grab a memorable victory.
MAJOR DUNDEE TO WIN (11/1)
MANCHESTER UNITED – versus Leicester City, Premier League (5:30pm)
On Saturday evening, Manchester United take on Leicester City at Old Trafford, with the Red Devils looking to keep their top four aspirations going, with a victory, after exiting the Champions League to Atletico Madrid
Ralf Rangnick’s side take on a Leicester City team who have not quite been their usual selves of late, but did bounce back from two straight losses to beat Brentford. The Foxes are unbeaten in four against United, but this looks a game that the home side should win, especially with Leicester depleted through injury.
MANCHESTER UNITED TO WIN (1/2)
SUNDAY
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS – versus Punjab Kings, IPL (11:00am)
In Cricket’s IPL, the Chennai Super Kings take on Punjab Kings, with the hosts looking to get off the mark, after successive Six Wicket defeats. Punjab meanwhile got off to a winning start, beating Bangalore by Five Wickets.
Chennai have a strong record against their opponents, having won three of the last four meetings between the sides and with the likes of captain, MS Dhoni and foreign stars in Dwayne Bravo, Moeen Ali and Faf Du Plessis in the side, it’s surely only a matter of time before they “click” and grab a victory.
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS TO WIN (8/11)
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR – versus Newcastle United, Premier League (4;3)pm)
Tottenham take on Newcastle United in North London, with Antonio Conte’s side chasing rivals Arsenal, for that fourth spot. Spurs have found a little bit of consistency , with successive wins over Brighton and West Ham, but cannot underestimate a rejuvenated Magpies side.
Eddie Howe’s side have dragged themselves away from the relegation dogfight, with an eight game unbeaten run, but losses to Chelsea and Everton has halted progress somewhat. Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son are in red hot form at the moment and even though the Geordie side will give them problems, Spurs should be too good for the visitors, who have not beaten them in the last four meetings.
TOTTENHAM TO WIN & BOTH TO SCORE (9/4)
