SATURDAY

EMILY UPJOHN – v King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (3:35pm Ascot)

The King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes looks set to be a three horse battle, with Irish Derby winner, Westover, leading the market, ahead of our selection, Emily Upjohn and the other main contender, Mishriff.

Emily Upjohn was the Musidora winner and runner-up in the Cazoo Oaks last time out, when a shorthead to Tyuesday, with the filly once again partnered by Frankie Dettori, whose “sabbatical” from team Gosden runners, appears to be over, with the 51-year old also riding Inspiral at the same meeting. Emily Upjohn certainly has the class to take the win here and it wouldn’t be a Frankie win, without a story attached. Strong claims overall here and fancied to get back to winning ways.

EMILY UPJOHN TO WIN (5/2)

France versus Holland (Women’s Euro 2022, 8:00pm)

France take on Holland in an interesting clash for this Women’s Euro 2022 quarter-final. Les Bleus had plenty of questions asked of them prior to the tournament, following reports of squad disharmony, but they were banished pretty quickly with the 5-1 win over Italy, in the opening game and a further win and draw against Belgium and Iceland to seal top spot.

Holland finished unbeaten in their group, but finished behind Sweden on goal difference, as defensive lapses saw them concede four goals in what was a weak group, featuring Portugal and Switzerland. France are unbeaten in three against the Dutch and that defensive frailty, may well be Holland’s undoing here, with a France win looking likely.

FRANCE TO WIN (8/11)

SUNDAY

CLUB BRUGGE versus Genk (Jupiler Pro League, 12:30pm)

The Belgian League season continues this weekend, as champions Club Brugge take on Genk a the Jan Breydel Stadium. The champions continued where they left off, by claiming the first silverware of the season, beating Gent in the Super Cup 1-0, thanks to Andreas Skov Olsen’s late first half goal.

Genk have warmed up with a series of friendlies, losing two on the bounce to Volendam (2-3) of Holland and AEK Athens (0-2) of Greece, before beating newly promoted RFC Seraing 4-0 last week, in the final warm up contest. The hosts are unbeaten in four against the visitors and did beat them 3-1 at the Jan Breydel last time they met, with something similar likely.

CLUB BRUGGE TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE (7/4)

CHARLES LECLERC French Grand Prix (Le Castellet, 2:00pm)

The French Grand Prix takes place at Le Castellet, with Charles Leclerc looking to continue to push his Ferrari and keep the pressure on world champion, Max Verstappen. The Monegasque won the main race at the Redbullring in Spielberg to put him 38 points behind the Dutchman and another win here, could make Red Bull look over thier shoulders with eleven races still remaining.

The Summer heat will be a factor here, with temperatures likely to hit 35’C or more, which of course does pose questions about the Ferrari’s reliability, but if the car can deal with conditions, the Marinello based team, could be celebrating another win this weekend.

LECLERC TO WIN THE RACE (7/5)
