The first huge flat race of the season takes place at Newmarket, with the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas. There are some useful contenders here, but one clearly stands out, with Native Trail, looking head and shoulders above the rest here.
Charlie Appleby’s runner is currently five for five, having won the Vincent O’Brien at Curragh and Dewhurst Stakes here last season. He returned in impeccable style, winning the Group 3 – Craven Stakes over C&D seventeen days ago, when 3.5 lengths clear of Claymore and is without a doubt, the one to beat in this contest.

MANCHESTER CITY – versus Leeds United (Premier League, 5:30pm)
Manchester City take on Leeds United at Elland Road, with the likelihood of playing catch up, in the race for the Premier League title, assuming Liverpool win at Newcastle earlier in the day.
City came through an amazing first leg of the Champions League semi-final, with a 4-3 win over Real Madrid, but Pep Guardiola cannot think too much about squad rotation here, with Jesse Marsch’s side currently unbeaten in five games. City should have enough to stay on track here, but expect Leeds to give them a scare or two.

TUESDAY – QIPCO 1000 GUINEAS (Newmarket, 3:40pm)
On Sunday, the Newmarket Guineas Festival ends, with the 1000 Guineas contest, offering a much more open contest than is expected in Saturday’s senior contest. Tenebrism is a daughter of Caravaggio and winner of the Cheveley Park Stakes, she goes in as favourite and is the highest rated filly.
Aiden O’Brien has won this the last three years and leads with Discoveries, but it’s the second strong Tuesday, who I am going for. She picked up a victory in a fillies nursery last month and I am banking on that extra fitness to be a factor here. O’Brien’s second string won last year in Mother Earth and lightning can strike twice here, especially with Frankie Dettori onboard.

ARSENAL – versus West Ham United (Premier League, 4:30pm)
Arsenal travel to the London Stadium, for what should be a fiery London derby match. Arsenal sit in fourth ahead of rivals Spurs and have been in excellent form, beating Chelsea and Arsenal, whilst scoring seven goals in those games.
They take on a Hammers side, who were narrowly beaten by Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final and with the second leg next week, David Moyes is likely to rotate his side, with a top four spot, out of sight. Expect the Gunners to take advantage of the East Londoners changes and take a step closer to Champions League football.
