Performances since had dropped off, but a third of eight at Ripon (1m 2f, good) looks like something to build upon, having ended up just 1.5 lengths adrift of City Escape. This is a lower grade handicap and gives Declan Carroll’s charge a big opprtunity.

Winner of four races and placed in twelve more, with the best form, coming last Summer, when repeatedly placing. The last victory came at Catterick, some fourteen months ago at Catterick (7f, soft), while a recent third at Thirsk in the penultimate start, raises hopes of a potential return to form. Needs to rediscover that old consistency and could feature, if able to do so here.
4:00pm – CAIRN GORM
Started off like a house on fire, with three wins in three back in the Summer of 2020, including the Group 3 – Prix De Cabourg at Deauville (6f, good). More recently he ended the year with a third at Ascot (6fm good to soft), before changing hands several times. After a wind op and a 255 day absence, this KP De Foy trained runner placed fourth of nine at Windsor (6f, good to firm), some 5.25 lengths adrift of the winner, but should strip fitter for that run. Goes in as favourite, ahead of Mojomaker and Aplomb.
