(1) (7:10pm Sligo) TECUMSEH SHERMAN was 9/1 now 9/4
Just the one victory came two years ago at Downpatrick, but has placed five times in eight starts, including a second once again at Downpatrick in May, on their penultimate start, albeit a distance to runaway winner, Statuaire. Comes in on a solid debut handicap mark and with Shane Fitzgerald claiming 7lbs, there is plenty to like here, with punters flocking to back this Patrick Martin runner.

(2) (8:07pm Sandown) BIGGLES was 6/1, now 10/3
Winner earlier in the year at Kempton, before returning to action at Newmarket in May, whe second in a Class 4 contest, a length and a half behind Widaad. Struggled in last run at Salisbury, with no real reasoning, so returns with a little to prove here, although market interest lends itself to an expected improvement from that last run. Strong claims here, if able to show previous form.

(3) (5:20pm Leopardstown) BENAUD was 8/1 now 5/1
Reasonable runs in opening four career starts, but stepped up well, to win here at Leopardstown (1m, yielding) back in October, before sealing a double at Naas (1m 2f, yielding to soft) on seasonal return in May, beating Baton Rouge by 1.75 lengths. A fourth in the Group 2 – Queen’s Vase was an impressive performance and looks the most likely to test big favourite Tarnaway this evening. Plenty of market which has continued through the day.

(4) (5:42pm Doncaster) TENAYA CANYON was 15/2 now 5/1
Strong form in recent runs, taking the spoils in the penultimate run at Haydock (5f, good to firm) when a length clear of Ventura Express. That was followed by a second at Doncaster (5f, good to firm) when a length to Mid Winster, 34 days ago. Up 1lb, with Saffie Osborne claiming 5lbs. Strong chances here, although each-way backing may be the safer play.

(5) (7:37pm Sandown) ST GEORGES BAY was 14/1, now 7/1
Showed some progress on second start, when sixth of twelve at Newbury (7f, good to soft), when 5.75 lengths adrift of Achelois back in May, however Ed Walker’s charge has seemingly regressed, with a record of 980 in the last three trips. Has a bit to prove here, but there has been some faith shown on the boards, with a fair amount of backing. Places look the best option, but worth keeping an eye on the market before this evenings run.
