Through-The-Card Tips for Lingfield's AW Card On Tuesday 7th November

There’s a good looking card on the all-weather at Lingfield on Tuesday, which includes two Listed Fillies’ races – the Fleur De Lys EBF Fillies’ Stakes and the River Eden EBF Fillies’ Stakes.

GG editor Tom Aldridge runs through the full card, giving his selections for all nine races on Tuesday at Lingfield.

11.37am – Win £2,000,000 With BetMGM’s Golden Goals Handicap (Class 6)

The opening race can go the way of HERSILIA, who came close to shedding her maiden tag last time out at Ffos Las and should appreciate the return to the all-weather. She remains on the same mark here, and considering that was her first effort over 7 furlongs and the winner has since boosted the form by winning again next time out, she looks the one they’ll all need to beat. Jim Crowley has been booked for the ride which is a positive booking, considering his 22% strike-rate at Lingfield’s AW course, and he can steer the filly to a deserved victory to finally shed her maiden tag.

12.07pm – BetMGM: It’s Showtime/EBF Novice Stakes (Class 5)

Charles Hills has his yard in red-hot form of late, currently operating at a 25% strike-rate over the past two weeks, and I like the look of his runner THE ICE PHOENIX in here. The form of his third at Ascot last time out has worked out incredibly well:

  • Olympic Candle (1st) won a class 2 next time out.
  • Accumulate (2nd) has won both of his races since.
  • Ten Bob Tony (5th) bolted up by 5 lengths in his next race.

The selection has already ran on the all-weather at Kempton back in August, and did well to finish runner-up behind the odds-on Qirat, and it was on the AW he recorded his best RPR to date (83). I think the return to the all-weather looks a good move and this is a good opportunity for him to get his head in front, although the William Haggas runner Monfrid will be a big danger if improving on his debut fifth.

12.37pm – Boost Your Acca At BetMGM Nursery Handicap (Class 5)

Summit looks interesting on his AW debut after a good effort on soft ground over this trip last time out, but he might struggle to give 3lb to James Ferguson’s ENPASSANT. His all-weather debut last month saw him do best of those off the pace, finishing third despite being slowly away. He then went one better last week, finishing first past the post but was demoted to 2nd for causing interference. He remains on the same mark here and the step up in trip should suit, so he gets a confident vote.

1.12pm – BetMGM Fleur De Lys EBF Fillies’ Stakes (Listed – Class 1)

Three-year-olds have won four of the last five runnings of this, including Queen Aminatu last year, but I’m not convinced there is a standout 3YO this year so I’ll be taking them on with POTAPOVA. The Sir Michael Stoute trained runner looked like returning to form when chasing home Coppice in the Rosemary Stakes when last seen, which was her best run for over a year, and I think she could be about to get back to her best. It’s also worth noting that 9 of the last 10 winners of this has an OR of 97+ and eight of the last ten were drawn in stall 5 or higher – both of these trends are in favour of Potapova and I’m backing here to gain a long overdue return to the winners enclosure.

1.47pm – BetMGM River Eden EBF FIllies’ Stakes (Listed – Class 1)

This is a hard race to predict, with plenty of these stepping up in trip for the first time and plenty more unknowns in the race, so I want to side with the proven stamina and class of DIVINE JEWEL. Her only win came at Lingfield so the return her is a major plus to her chances, and having run well when runner-up over a longer trip at Chester recently, we know she’ll be staying on strongly at the end. She may have disappointed last time out but that was on soft ground and her best form has come on better ground. This is a big drop in class too and I think she’s a great bet to gain just her second win of her career.

2.22pm – Best Racing Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Handicap (Class 4)

I’m taking a bit of a chance with one at a huge price here – Laura Mangan’s OKAMI. All three of his wins came on the all-weather, with two of those coming over this trip, including one over C&D. He may have disappointed last time out at Chelmsford, but he was slowly away and it paid to be up with the pace that day. Jim Crowley is an eye-catching booking and I’m hoping a return to this C&D can allow Okami to cause a bit of an upset.

2.57pm – BetUK. Home Of The Acca-Fenwa Handicap – Div 1 (Class 6)

This is a tough race to call but the class act in the field is SASSY REDHEAD, who is at her best on the all-weather and is now on a career low mark. She’s disappointed on her two starts since returning from a break, but having won over C&D off a mark of 62 as recently as February this year, I’m confident the return to this venue can see her in a better light. Off a mark of just 53, she’s extremely well handicapped and this race doesn’t have too much quality in it, so she gets my vote.

3.32pm – BetUK. Home Of The Acca-Fenwa Handicap – Div 2 (Class 6)

TILSWORTH ONY TA has been a model of consistency of late, and with young Liam Wright’s useful 7lb claim, he looks extremely well weighted in here. Since July, his record reads 2237144, with the victory coming at Bath off a mark of 47, so when you factor in his jockey’s claim, he should be more than capable of winning off a mark of 42 effectively now. He wasn’t beaten far last time out over the minimum trip, and with the step back up in trip looking a good move, he should go close in a race that is lacking much quality.

4.10pm – BetUK. It’s Where The UK Bets Handicap (Class 6)

Alice Haynes’ GOLDSMITH has a pretty impressive 201133 record at this course, which improves to 113 over C&D, and this looks an excellent opportunity to add another win to his name. He remains on the same mark as when finishing third here last month over a mile, and in the manner he stayed on that day, the step back up to 1m 2f should eke out some improvement. Cieren Fallon is riding better than ever lately, with five winners from his last 14 rides (correct at time of writing), so he looks an excellent booking, and with plenty in his favour I’m confident Goldsmith can land the lucky last.
