Picked up a second on latest at the end of last month, at Haydock (1m 2f, soft), when 1.5 lengths behind Elhafei, who has won again since. Strong chances, with Violet Barton claiming 7lbs.

(2) (7:15pm Newton Abbot) ECLAIR DES SABLONS was 10/1, now 11/2
Was a thirteen race maiden, before finally breaking the duck at Exeter (2m 2f, good to firm) back in April, beating Merry Berry by a head. That was followed by a second over C&D six days later. Needs to bounce back from a poor run at Huntingdon last month, but off a good mark and has found interest in the markets.

Maiden, who showed some positive signs, when fourth at Market Rasen (2m good) over hurdles last month, although she did struggled over 2m on the flat, last time out at Catterick, finishing 13.5 lengths adrift of the winner. Drop back in distance should help and plenty of encouragement on the markets too.

(4) (6:15pm Newton Abbot) COURT DUTY was 20/1 now 12/1
Four wins in twenty-eight starts, with the last of those coming at Ffos Las (2m, soft) back in November, with a third at the same venue, three weeks later. Return so far this season, hasn’t been ideal, with a ninth at Worcester (2m 7f, good) last month and then falling a fortnight later at the same venue. Needs to show form of last season to really feature here, but place backing looks the way forward.

Seven race maiden, who having shown plenty of promise in early starts, has regressed slightly since. However, a fifth at Ayr (7f, good to firm) last time out, saw them 4.25 length drift of the winner, three weeks ago and offers something to build upon. Once again, places look the best option.
