Open to more improvement on all-weather / nursery debut and could go close. Solid backing in the market also appeals.

(2) (3:15pm Market Rasen) Just Marvin was 14/1, now 8/1
Decent, if unspectacular last season, but returned for season debut, with a win at Uttoxeter (1m 7f, good), when 1.5 lengths clear of How’s The Cricket. Has since followed that up with a fourth at Sedgefield (2m, good) when badly hampered and a fourth on latest at Ludlow (1m 7f, good) when elevated in class. Needs to show a little more to have have winning claims, but should be in the mix for the places.

(3) (5:45pm Chelmsford) Take Up Arms was 20/1, now 9/1
Finished as a 25/1 sixth, of eleven on debut at Wolverhampton (7f, a/w) when missing the break a fortnight ago and subsequently playing catch-up for the remainder of the race, finishing 7.25 lengths adrift. Did stay on well, in the final furlong though and assuming a better start is hard, he could go a lot closer. Well backed in from 20’s and a definite challenger here.

(4) (4:00pm Sedgefield) Hot Gossip was 14/1, now 9/1
Poor form, since a second at Ayr (2m 3f, heavy) two years ago and has been pulled-up in last two runs at Hexham, including latest, eleven days ago, when tailed off, three out. Some money on the markets, but with new headgear combination too, this afternoon, this looks a place selection, only for the brave.

Was well held in first two career starts at the end of 2019, but returned with renewed vigour, when second at Leicester (7f, heavy) last month in a novice contest. Slow ground obviously appeals, but will need a marked improvement to have a sniff of victory. Bit of each-way backing on the boards and once again, a small wager looks the most to risk here.
