Race 1 (1:15pm) WAR HORSE
Debuted fifth at Newmarket (7f, good to soft), running quite green and ending up 6 lengths adrift of the winner back in June. However, improvement was significant in the latest here at Goodwood (1m, good) last month, when a length behind Luminous Light and a good 1.25 lengths clear of the rest. This Sea The Stars gelding has more to come and it would not be a surprise to see them right in there, as they head into the closing stages.
Race 2 (1:45pm) FOX PREMIER
Both career wins came back in 2019 and since coming back a year ago, has struggled to show that kind of form. His record of 007-740 doesn’t bode well, however his fourth of ten at Windsor (1m good to firm) last month offered hopes of better things to come. He comes into this claiming handicap contest some 6lbs lower than he would in a normal handicap contest and should show significant improvement.
Race 3 (2:17pm) SOME NIGHTMARE
Twelve race career, whose three wins have come in the last five starts, including the latest at Chepstow (6f, soft), when 1.75 lengths clear of the useful Manumission and a further 2 lengths clear of the rest. A rise of 7lbs is justified after that performance, while the booking of William Buick can only be seen as a indicator of connections hopes looking ahead. No surprise,if he romps home again.
Race 4 (2:52pm) MIGRATION
Comes into this contest, looking for a hat-trick, having followed a victory in the Chesterfield Cup here at Goodwood (1m 1f, heavy) back in July, when 2 lengths ahead of Caradoc, with a win at York (1m 2f, good) in a Class 2 handicap, beating Sinjaari by a neck. David Menuisier’s runner takes on listed company for the first time here, but shouldn’t look out of place in thai contest
Race 5 (3:27pm) GOLDEN BUGLE
Five races so far for this team Gosden trained runner, with a pair of victories at Doncaster in a Class 5 contest and a Class 2 win at Newbury (1m 5f, good) in a Fillies handicap back in July, when a length clear of Quenelle D’Or. Disappointed in hat-trick bid at Kempton last time out, but comes into this contest, with solid chances, with the extension to a first time 1m 6f, offering potential of further improvement.
Race 6 (4:02pm) RUSSIAN VIRTUE
Eight race maiden, who has placed twice so far, including a second at Sandown (1m 1f, good) back in June, when half a length behind Sweet Reward. Has struggled a little in two subsequent starts, but comes in off a decent mark and without the hood worn lately. This is another David Menuisier runner, who has strong claims.
