Race 1 (1:00pm) ELZAAL
Seventeen race maiden, who has placed second five times, including the last three races ran. Paul Midgley’s charge was unlucky in his latest, when just a neck to Joshua at Newcastle (5f, a/w) and looks set to challenge once again here, with strong claims for the outright.
Race 2 (1:30pm) CONTACTLESS
Another maiden runner, with this Lawrence Mullaney trained 3-yo, bouncing back from poor form and finishing third of eleven at Newcastle (5f, a/w) in October, in the first run after a gelding operation, just 1.75 lengths adrift of Brazen Akoya. Gap since the last run is a minor concern, but more to come off the back of that last outing and thus, should feature heavily.
Race 3 (2:05pm) BOLLIN NEIL
Six wins in thirty starts for this Tim Easterby trained runner and showed strong form towards the back end of the year, placing second at Catterick (1m 6f, good to soft) back in October, before following up with a victory at Redcar (1m 6f, soft), beating Red Derek by 1.25 lengths. Returns from a four and a half month break here, but looks capable of a quick start here.

Race 4 (2:40pm) THAKURI
Another of Tim Easterby’s runners, who stuggled with greenness on his first run, placing twelfth of fourteen at Redcar (7f, good to firm), before improving on softer ground, to place sixth of ten at Beverley (7.5f, soft), the following month, some 6.5 lengths adrift of Piastrella. She makes her handicap bow here, after a six month break and is likely to show an improved result here, with a low mark.
Race 5 (3:15pm) VINDABALA
Has shown strong form since switching to Tjade Collier’s yard, winning twice and placing five times. She picked up a victory last time out at Newcastle (7f, a/w), when half a length clear of Love Your Work, who has since won twice. Comes back after a forty-one day break and looks have strong claims at a double.
Race 6 (3:50pm) MAHANAKHON POWER
The last victory for this 5-yo, came back in August for Mick Appleby and has since gone from Martin Keighley’s yard, to now residing with Rebecca Menzies, with no victory in that time. However, a recent third of nine in the latest at Wetherby (2m, good to soft), suggests better things may just be around the corner. A workable mark and the extra fitness, may just see them challenge for the win, with places the more likely.
