Race 1 (1:00pm) PARISENCORE
Very much the bridesmaid, with five successive second placed finishes, including at Ayr back in December, when 1.25 lengths adrift of Ballycoose. He followed up three weeks ago, with another, this time at Carlisle (2m 1f, good to soft), but was some 31 lengths adrift of odds on favourite, Masked Crusader. Better chances here and should be in the mix.
Race 2 (1:35pm) BRIEF AMBITION
Strong record of five wins and three places in twelve starts and comes into this contest off the back of a double sealed at Ludlow (2m 4f, good), when 0.75 lengths ahead of Ballinsker, back in November. Time off may have a minor affect on fitness, but this Fergal O’Brien charge should feature heavily in this contest and could take the spoils.
Race 3 (2:10pm) HURRICANE ALI
Last of three career wins, came back in may of last year at Uttoxeter, before ending the season with a couple of strong place finishes. He has found it tougher going in two starts this year, placing sixth in both, including last month, again at Uttoxeter, when a disappointing favourite. Drops a further 2lbs here and needs to show a little more, off those runs, but should be in the mix.
Race 4 (2:45) CHEF D’OEUVRE
Five career wins and seven places, but a little intermittent in terms of his best form, with a second in the penultimate start at Wetherby (3m, soft), seeing them 4.75 lengths behind Timeless Beauty, before a fourth at Sedgefield, which saw them some 23 lengths adrift of the winner, a fortnight ago. He won this race last year, off a 7lbs higher mark and if can improve the sometimes sketchy jumping, has genuine claims to win this once more.
Race 5 (3:20pm) NORA THE XPLORER
Maiden winner at Sedgefield (2m 3f, good) back in January, when 6 lengths clear of Fairfield Ferrata, before returning over the same C&D a week ago, to place second, half a length behind the avenging Fairfield Ferrata. Letthetruthbeknown looks the main concern in this three runner contest, but a bold bid can give them a second career win here.
Race 6 (3:55pm) THEGALANTWAY
The last victory was some eighteen months ago, with form dipping a little since. A fifth of seven at Aintree back in October, sums that drop perfectly, when 37 lengths adrift of the talented Corach Rambler and having been pulled-up on his reappearance, needs to pick up the pace here. However, he is well treated on his best form and can show some timely improvement.
