Race 1 (1:15pm) FRANCESCO GUARDI
Winner at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) on debut in July, when beating Lost In Space by a head. An impressive third in the listed Denford Stakes at Newbury followed in August, before a disappointing run in a Class 4 at Yarmouth. Makes handicap debut in this contest and looks capable of a better run than that previous trip.
Race 2 (1:50pm) GLOBAL STORM
Two wins and four places in eight starts and has picked up a double at this track last year, when beating Arthurian Fable by a shorthead, over 1m 2f. Has since finished 367, with the last of those over in Meydan (1m 4f, good) back in February, when 4.75 lengths adrift of Star Safari. Expected to be in the mix.
Race 3 (2:25pm) LADY HAYES
Two wins from two starts, including a Class 2 contest at Salisbury (6f, good) in September, beating Light Refrain by a length. Disappointed in a Group 3 at Deauville (1m, very soft), when fifth of seven, although conditions were likely to be the issue, than her ability. A better performance awaits in this contest, with a chance of grabbing the spoils a genuine possibility.
Race 4 (3:00pm) FOORAAT
Two career wins came in the first two starts in Class 5 contests at Chelmsford. Has since found it tougher at the higher levels, fifth places in listed and Group 3 contests, before finishing a solid second at Kempton (1m, a/w) in the Snowdrop Stakes last month. Winner Lavender’s Blue is in opposition once again, but this full sister to Benbatl certainly has more to come now in middle distance events.
Race 5 (3:40pm) SANTA BARBARA
Won on only run so far, beating Kailash by 2.5 lengths at Curragh (1m yielding) in September and with Aidan O’Brien providing four of the last five winners, she looks like a prime candidate and is the clear market leader for the day’s big race.
Race 6 (4150pm) MY DABAWI
Dubawi colt out of Cape Dollar, with plenty of market interest in Mark Johnston’s charge. Plenty of quality among siblings including half-brothers in Ghaiyyath and Night Of Thunder. Plenty expected of this colt and is the selection for this competitive contest.
