Race 1 (1:50pm) STATE OF BLISS

Since a debut ninth back in July 2020, Mark Johnston’s runner has a record of 12-332221, including victory last time out at Ascot (1m 3f, good to soft) in the Shergar Cup, beating Annandale by 3.75 lengths. Although the elevation in class asks for more out of this consistent colt, he can definitely feature in this opening race of the day.

Race 2 (2:25pm) STRADIVARIUS

Little needs to be said about Stradivarius, who has sixteen career wins for Team Gosden, including the Group 3 – Sagaro Stakes at Ascot (1m 7f, good to firm) back in April, when beating Ocean Wind by a length. Missed out on a record fourth Ascot Gold Cup last time out, when fourth and was pulled out of Glorious Goodwood over ground concerns. Has won this contest twice and looks set to battle Trueshan for the victory and a return to winning ways looks very likely.

Race 3 (3:00pm) BERKSHIRE SHADOW

Winner of his opening two starts, including the Group 2 – Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot (6f, good to firm), when beating race rival Eldrickjones by 1.25 lengths back in June. That was followed by a second in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood (another Group 2), when 0.75 lengths behind Angel Bleu. Andrew Balding’s runner looks in great form and with just three runs under his belt, more is expected over this 6f sprint.

Race 4 [3:35pm) GOLDEN PAL

Wesley Ward’s charge has won the last three races over in the United States, including a Grade 2 contest back in November at Saratoga. Has experience over in the UK, when second in the Norfolk Stakes last year at Royal Ascot (5f, good to soft), when a neck to The Lir Jet. He goes in as narrow favourite, ahead of Suesa for this contest and this American raider should go close once again.

Race 5 (4:10pm) BROADSPEAR

Roger Varian’s colt made a promising debut at Salisbury (6f, soft), when second and 1.5 lengths to Seattle King in a Class 4 contest. Trainer and connections are clearly exited by his prospects, with entry into the Group 1 – Dewhurst Stakes putting plenty of expectation on this run. Expected to build upon that debut run and one of the leading candidates for this Class 2 contest.

Race 6 (4:40pm) SEA LA ROSA

Six career races, with both victories coming in the last three races, winning last time out at Redcar (1m 2f, good) in a three runner field, when 0.75 lengths ahead of Forza Orta. The other win came in a five runner contest, s it will be interesting to see how they do in this twelve runner field. However, based on recent form, Willie Haggas’s runner can make this step up in class.
