Tote Placepot Selections: Ascot (Saturday 25th July)

The Tote’s excellent Placepot bet offers a chance for punters to win big on multiples, with relatively small stakes. Check out our placepot picks for the card at Ascot, on King George VI & Queen Elizabeth day, which features Enable in the day’s main event.

.

Race 1 (12:40pm) HAMOUDI

Made winning debut at Windsor eleven days ago, running on in the final furlong to win by a length, even after pulling hard during the first part of the race. Drops down from that 6f trip, to today’s 5f and looks destined to improve this afternoon. Should be in the hunt at the business end.

Race 2 (1:15pm) RENAISSANCE ROSE

2yo makes her debut for Charlie Appleby’s yard, with William Buick preferring her to Creative Flair among the Godolphin runners. She’s a sister to a all-weather winner and half sister to Group 3 winner, Hamada, so has a good chance based off that pedigree.

Race 3 (1:50pm) SAEIQA

Made a decent career debut, when third in a Class 5 at Newmarket, before impressing further, when third in the Coventry Stakes last month, finishing 2.25 lengths off the winner. Woodcote winner, Twaasol is favourite, but Saeiqa can get close.

Race 4 (2:25pm) BLUE MIST

Won two of thirteen career starts and bagged a second at Newbury on seasonal return. Finished a disappointing ninth in the Silver Wokingham, 4.75 lengths behind race rival Chiefofchief, when unable to pick out a clear run, but comes in to this race some 5lbs better off and should hopefully have some better luck this time around.

Race 5 (3:00pm) JOHAN

Won three of five career starts, with the latest of those at Newbury last month. Prior to that, he finished sixth in a Group 3 at Newmarket, albeit by some 17 lengths, so may need to improve for this Class 2 outing. Solid performer and wouldn’t mind any potential rain.

Race 6 (3:35pm) ENABLE

Succumbed to his second defeat in the Coral Eclipse, when beaten by Ghaiyyath (2.25 lengths). But with just three competitors, including Japan, who he beat by a nose in the same race, it looks likely that John Gosden’s charge will bounce back in style.
