Race 1 (2:10pm) COMETH THE MAN
Made a promising debut, when fourth behind race rival Tommy Tittlemouse at Hamilton (6f, good to soft), finishing 4 lengths off the victor. Comes into this renewed rivalry, some 7lbs better off and should improve overall, from that first run and expected to be in the mix, come the business end.
Race 2 (2:40pm) DICK DATCHERY
After a couple of poor runs on seasonal return, this David O’Meara trained runner has found some great form, taking the spoils as a 20/1 shot, over C&D last month, before following up with a third at Doncaster, eleven days later, when elevating in class. Drops back to Class 4 for this afternoon and has a good opportunity here.
Race 3 (3:10pm) HACHERT
Has looked the real deal, since switching both to handicap company and the wearing of a hood. Finished third over C&D, half a length off the winner last month, before returning once again over C&D, to this time take the win, beating Aliento by a length, sixteen days ago. Rises 3lbs today, but that still looks well within his comfort zone.
Race 4 (3:40pm) INDUCTIVE
Struggled in seven career starts last year, but so far looks a significantly improved 3yo, having been gelded. Won at Wolverhampton back in February and followed up with a record of 432 in three subsequent runs, before taking another victory, this time over C&D Ventura Rascal by a head and who has since won twice in a row. Rise of 3lbs does not look to be a factor.
Race 5 (4:10pm) MOUNTAIN RESCUE
Has not reached the heights of previous performances, but has at least been consistent recently, picking up a fourth (of fourteen) and just 1.5 lengths behind the winner at Doncaster (7f) in June. Followed that up with a sixth (of nineteen), eleven days later, over a mile, although he did go off a little too early on that occasion. Mark is slowly dropping and it would not be a huge surprise to see him improve on recent results this afternoon.
Race 6 (4:40pm) ROCKLEY POINT
Last three victories have come on the Tapeta at Newcastle, but he does have ability on the turf, with last time out’s second at Musselburgh, a case in point, returning from a 142 day break and finishing just 2 lengths adrift, over the 5f (good) trip. Winning turf form has been on softer ground, but still looks the type to be in the mix, every chance.
