Race 1 (1:00pm) TRANSITION

Two wins in twelve starts, although the last of those was some sixteen months ago at Kempton (1m, a/w) when sealing a double. Form has dipped a little since, but a fifth last time out at Nottingham (1m, good to firm), offers hopes of further improvement. Returns to 7f and a further 2lbs drop offers further possibiiities.

Race 2 (1:30pm) TOUCHWOOD

Seven race maiden, but has picked up successive seconds at Windsor (6f, good to soft) and then Catterick last month, albeit 9 lengths adrift of Blind Beggar. This is a relatively low end race and he should feature once again.

Race 3 [2:00pm) ALMADRINA

Was a four race maiden with little to shout about, until taking the spoils over C&D (soft) a week ago, when 2 lengths clear of Finvarra. Dropped down in class for that contest and despite a 6lbs rise today, should still have plenty in hand to put themselves in the hunt for a double. Strong favourite for this race.

Race 4 (2:30pm) BEAU GESTE

Three wins in seventeen, with the last of those some sixteen months ago at Wolverhampton (1m 1f, a/w). Since picking up a second at the same venue back in November (7f, a/w), form has dipped a little but a return to turf and a drop in class should see them in amongst the leading contenders.

Race 5 (3:05pm) SMOKEY MALONE

Grabbed a second career win, last time out at Nottingham (1m 2f, good to firm), when 0.75 lengths clear of Boy George. That followed successive third places, so form is clearly very strong. Had more in hand that day and that should compensate for the 6lbs rise. Solid contender and expected to be in the mix.

Race 6 (3:35pm) GRANARY QUEEN

Only victory came here at Brighton over 6f last month, when beating Queen Sarabi by a neck. Has since finished fourth Lleicester) and then second at Brighton once again. Rise of 3lbs looks reasonable, but recent form at this venue is what puts them firmly in the hunt for the prize today.
