Race 1 (1.50pm) UNO MAS
Nine time winner, who has been in strong form over the last few months, picking up a win at Uttoxeter (2m 7f, good) in a conditional jockeys hurdle at the time of last month and also bagging a victory last time out at Ffos Las (2m 7f, good), a week ago, in a handicap hurdle, when 13 lengths clear of second. Both of those wins were with Ellis Collier onboard and she continues here. Rise of 9lbs may seem difficult, but he has won off higher previously. Strong contender for Christian Williams.
Race 2 (2:25pm) CAPTAIN CHAOS
Eight wins in thirty-two starts for Dan Skelton’s charge, winning the Listed – Swinley Chase at Ascot (2m 7f, soft) back in February, when a head clear of Regal Encore, with these two 16 lengths clear of the rest. He ended the season with a disappointing fourth at Carlisle (3m, soft), but returns for his seasonal debut, with fresh impetus. Has placed or better in ten of eighteen starts on soft ground, which will make him a big player, if similar conditions come into play
Race 3 (3:00pm) TAMAROC DU MATHAN
A strong hurdles runner for Paul Nicholls, who has looked even better over fences, winning a Class 3 contest at Wincanton (1m 7f, good to soft), before stepping up Grade 2 level and winning the Pendil Chase at Kempton (2m 4f, good), when 3.75 lengths clear of Ga Law on his penultimate start. Unseated his rider when going well and looking for a double in a Grade 2 at Ayr back in April, but returns here, looking to get back to winning ways. Strong claims, if back on song.
Race 4 (3:35pm) DOCTOR KEN
Useful runner for Olly Murphy, who debuted with a second at Market Rasen (2m, good) last November, before struggling in the mud at Newbury (2m, heavy) in January, when fourth of eight. However, this 5-yo showed plenty of improvement, to take the spoils back at Market Rasen (2m good to soft) in March, when 3.5 lengths ahead of San Fermin. Those were all bumper contests and he makes his hurdles debut, with a little to prove, although he if takes to jumping well, he should find himself amongst the leaders, with the pace he has shown.
Race 5 (4:10pm) MACKELDUFF
Solid performances in his first couple of runs (both 1m 7f, good to soft), before taking a maiden win at Southwell (2m 4f, good) back in May, travelling strongly throughout and easing to an 11 length victory, ahead of Mozzaro, Comes in for handicap bow, completely unexposed and he has clear claims, if continuing the progress shown previously.
Race 6 (4:45pm) MORNING SPIRIT
One win and six places in twelve career starts, with that victory coming at the ninth time of asking at Ascot (2m 7f, heavy) back in December of last year. Ran three times since, with the latest, a second at Ffos Las (2m 7f, good to soft), seeing them miss out by just a neck to Geordie Des Champs in a proper battle between the two. Makes chase debut in this contest and on recent form, looks to have claims here..
