Race 1 (1:25pm) STRADIVARIUS
Legendary stayer for team Gosden, who has nineteen career wins to his name, including the Doncaster Cup (2m 1f, good to firm) last month., when 2.5 lengths clear of Alerta Roja. Age may just be catching up on him, with the defeat to race rival Trueshan in the Prix Du Cadran (2m 4f, soft) by 4.5 lengths a fortnight ago, but he still looks the best alternative to the favourite and is expected to be in the mix once more.
Race 2 (2:00pm) ROHAAN
Seven victories in sixteen, including the sealing of a treble at Ascot (6f, soft) back in June, for the Wokingham Stakes, beating Fresh by a neck. Has found it difficult in two Group 1 contests, placing tenth in the July Cup at Newmarket, before a creditable fifth in the Flying Five Stakes at Curragh last time out, a month ago, when just 2 lengths adrift of winner, Romantic Proposal. He is two from two at this venue and looks capable of extended that run here.
Race 3 (2:35pm) SNOWFALL
Winner of the English and Irish Oaks and sealed a four-timer, when taking the Yorkshire Oaks by 4 lengths at York (1m 3f, good), beating Albaflora by 4 lengths and a further 2.75 lengths ahead of the rest. Has struggled in two runs at Longchamp, including a sixth in the Arc, but returns to battle her own sex here and should bounce back to form. Odds on favourite and the only logical selection for this contest.
Race 4 (3:10pm) BAAEED
Willie Haggas’s charge has won all five races, including the Prix Du Moulin at Longchamp, when beating Order Of Australia by 1.25 lengths, to add to the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes win at Newmarket previously. Looks to be in a straight fight with Palace Pier for the victory in this Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and anything less than a first or second would be a big surprise.
Race 5 (3:50pm) ADDEYBB
Winner of this race last year, when beating Skalleti by 2.25 lengths. Willie Haggas’s runner has picked up two Group 1 wins in Australia since, including the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in April. He placed second on return to the UK, in the Coral Eclipse at Sandown, losing by 3.5 lengths to St Mark’s Basilica, but ahead of Mishriff. Stong claims on that form and another who should feature.
Race 6 (4:30pm) NUGGET
Winner of the Newbury Spring Cup back in April and has followed up with a second at Thirsk, before another win at Haydock (1m, good to firm) three weeks ago, when a neck clear of Afaak. Form is still on the up and Richard Hannon’s runner is capable of challenging favourite Sunray Major in this contest
