Race 1 (1:50pm) MAYBURY

Showed glimpses of what was to come, when a debut eighth at Yarmouth in May, before improving to finishing third at Epsom (6f, good) three weeks ago in the Woodcote, when staying on strongly from the rear. More to come and this drop to Class 4 level looks well within his grasp.

Race 2 (2:25pm) HANDSOME

Had a trio of solid performances, prior to a marked improvement in latest at Leicester (1m 2f, good to soft) last month, finishing second and 2.25 lengths behind Chalk Stream on handicap debut. Rise of 5lbs isn’t ideal, but should stay over the first time 1m 4f trip, with further progress expected.

Race 3 [3:00pm) GREAT NEWS

Winner on debut, in a novice stakes at Salisbury (6f, good to firm) back in April, when half a length clear of George Morland. Step up in class and trip last month, here at Newmarket wasn’t ideal, although he did race keenly, which didn’t help in the closing stages. Has been gelded and drops back to 6f for this handicap debut, with plenty to come, if able to race calmly today.

Race 4 (3:35pm) SUBTLE BEAUTY

Placed twice in opening two career start last October, including over C&D, when 2.75 lengths off the winner. Returned to action a fortnight ago ad placed second once again, this time at Newbury (1m, good to firm) and just a neck behind Evident Beauty and 5 lengths clear of race rival Shaikhena. Some unexposed runners make this tougher to judge, but her form should keep her in the hunt for the spoils.

Race 5 (4:10pm) ON A SESSION

One win in fifteen starts, with that some two years ago at Listowel (6f, yielding). Generally form has been good in recent starts, with a third in the Derby Festival Handicap at Epsom) last time out, when 5 lengths adrift of winner, Rhoscolyn. Solid chances and Marco Ghiani claims 3lbs.

Race 6 (4:45pm) ALABAMA BOY

Comes in looking for a hat-trick of victories, having sealed a double over C&D (good) last month, when half a length clear of Freak Out. Rise of 3lbs looks reasonable considering that contest and looks to have more to come potentially, off the back of a great start to the season so far.
